According to Redmond Pie, Apple had proclaimed during the WWDC 2015 event that after updating the iPhone or iPad with iOS 9, users will be able to churn additional battery power of one hour. Android and Windows Phone 8 mobile operating systems already have a battery saver feature onboard since quite some time. However, it is only now that Apple has included this feature to iOS.

On Android and Windows Phone, when the battery saver feature is activated, certain features are disabled or limited to save on the power. Redmond Pie explained that the new Low Power Mode of iOS 9 too can automatically preserve the battery as much as possible.

When the battery drops down to 20 percent, iOS 9 will prompt its users whether they would like to activate the Low Power Mode.  If not activated, again it will prompt a warning message to start the feature when it further drops to 10 percent. To access the feature, iOS 9 can go to Settings and find the new Battery listing.

Citing what Apple revealed about the Low Power Mode, Redmond Pie stated that features like sensors present on the device are turned off to extend the battery life. It also reduces the brightness of the display automatically.

With iOS 9 onboard, the iPhone will be able to sense through proximity and ambient sensors that it is kept face-down on the table and it will prevent the screen from turning on. The display will remain off even when a new notification arrives.

The description of the Low Power Mode in the Battery section under Settings states that the activities like push notifications for email, syncing of apps in the background, motion and animation effects will be disable and it will also limit data connectivity to extend battery life. By deactivating such features, the Low Power Mode can extend the battery life by additional three hours, Phone Arena reported.
