"Guardians of the Galaxy" star Chris Pratt and "The Hunger Games" actress Jennifer Lawrence will star in the sci-fi film "Passengers," which is set in outer space.

The two Hollywood stars have recently accepted a deal to work on a big-budget romance sci-fi with Sony Picture's new motion picture chairman Tom Rothman, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Lawrence will be paid $20 million alongside 30 percent of the film's profit, in which Sony Pictures gave no comment.

Meanwhile, Pratt's salary went up from $10 million to $12 million, following the massive success of Colin Trevorrow's "Jurassic World," which chomped box office records with its $524.1 million global opening last weekend.

Rothman was eager to push the film to a green light as he was convinced by the success of the dinosaur sequel, even though the romantic sci-fi film has reached a considerably higher cost due to the combined fees of the two actors, according to Screen Rant.

"Passengers" follows the story of a guy who wakes up from his cryogenic sleep 90 years prior the spacecraft he is on reaches its destination, secondary to a malfunction in one of its sleep chambers. He then wakes up his co-passenger, as he does not want to grow old and die in solitude.

"The Imitation Game" director Morten Tyldum is set to helm the film while "Prometheus" writer Jon Spaihts is on board to pen the screenplay.

There is no official announcement yet on the film's release date.
