While the success of "Gossip Girl" on the CW was undeniable, the likability of an ABC series that chronicles the lives of women married to the seven Mercury project astronauts who first went into space is yet to be determined.

For six seasons, "Gossip Girl" launched the careers of Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick, Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley, Taylor Momsen, Kaylee DeFer and Jessica Szohr, among others.

On the other hand, "The Astronaut Wives Club" stars JoAna Garcia Swisher, Yvonne Strahovski, Odette Annable, Erin Cummings, Azure Parsons, Candice Harrison, Dominique McElligott, Kenneth Mitchell, Wilson Bethel, Evan Handler, Desmond Harrington, Bret Harrison, Joel Johnstone, Aaron McCusker, Sam Reid and Tony Bears, among others.

Swisher recently said that she channelled the sense of love and commitment she has with her husband  Cleveland Indians baseball player Nick Swisher into her role on "The Astronaut Wives Club," ABC News has learned.

In "The Astronaut Wives Club" season 1 episode 1 titled "Launch," the seven wives, who instantly became royalties, all meet and struggle for power on their astronaut husband's behalf. They later on have a photoshoot for Life magazine, the owner of the exclusive rights to their story, The Guardian has learned.

The first man chosen to go into space Alan Shepard (Harrington) turns out to be a philandering man despite having a wife like Louise (McElligott) who faithfully loves him. The seven wives plan a surprise visit to their astronaut husbands, who are doing some shenanigans in Florida.
