The highly anticipated "Fast and Furious 8" will be the part of post-Paul Walker-era, scheduled to release in April 2017. The movie is expected to see the return of several main cast members as well as the new ones. According to a recent report, the newest addition to "Fast and Furious" cast Jason Statham will reprise the role of the villain Deckard Shaw in the franchise's eighth instalment.

The actor, who first appeared in end credits of "Fast and Furious 6" before appearing for the full fledged role in "Furious 7" (2015), has confirmed the news in an interview with Access Hollywood. Speaking to the aforementioned entertainment publication, Jason Statham revealed that they are already discussing "Part 8."

" I'm a newcomer, I just got invited to the party on this last one. It is nice to know I'll be doing another," Jason Statham told the publication.

The actor did not share any specific details about the movie. However, he assured that "there is some great stuff" in the movie that he knows about.

In "Fast and Furious 7," Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw targeted Dominic Toretto and Brian O'Conner's team to avenge the defeat of his younger brother Owen Shaw. However, at the end of the movie, Deckard Shaw is nabbed and place in a high security prison. And it seemed that he is already planning his escape.

Besides Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto, Michelle Rodriguez is expected to return to play her character Letty. Meanwhile, rumour mill is abuzz with the speculations about Eva Mendes' return.

When asked about the possible casting of Eva Mendes as her character Agent Monica Fuentes for "Fast and Furious 8," actress Michelle Rodriguez said that she hopes to the see the girls "united for once."

"I think that first off, girls should stop fighting each other and we should start uniting for once. That's how I feel about that. Secondly, I think that everything is speculation until we actually shooting and we're immortalising stuff on film," Michelle Rodriguez during an interview at the launch of "Fast and Furious" themed ride at Universal Studios (via Metro).

Eva Mendes appeared in "2 Fast 2 Furious" and "Fast Five."
