"Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice" star Ben Affleck, 42, and wife Jennifer Garner, 43, officially announced their decision to divorce one day after their 10th wedding anniversary. The two got married in a secret Caribbean ceremony on June 29, 2005.
In a joint statement released on June 30, Tuesday, to Us Weekly, Affleck and Garner said, "After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce."
"We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time," the couple said. "This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding."
Affleck met Garner on the set of Michael Bay's action romance "Pearl Harbor" in 2001. They reunited in 2003 in the film "Daredevil," which was written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson and also starred "True Detective" season 2 star Colin Farrell.
After being friends for a couple of years, Affleck and Garner went public as a couple on Oct. 23, 2004 at the Boston Red Sox's opening game of the World Series. The "Argo" director proposed on Garner's 33rd birthday on April 17, 2005. The two have three children, daughters Violet, 9, and Seraphina, 6, and a son, Samuel, 3.
Meanwhile, it is rumored that Affleck is set to produce a Hollywood film about the FIFA scandal with his friend Matt Damon after Warner Brothers acquired the rights to the "House Of Deceit" book, The Telegraph has learned.
