Three figures who previously worked with Chinese President Xi Jinping recently elevated their status in the political sphere. According to U.S.-based Duowei News, all three officials possibly earned Xi's trust by abiding by his stringent code of integrity and discipline.
The first of them is Xu Lin, who was recently appointed to first deputy of the Central Leading Group for Internet Security.
Formerly the Shanghai propaganda chief and municipal standing committee member, he began his career in the Nanhui District. Later on, he moved to the autonomous region of Tibet at the age of 32 to serve for three years as deputy chief. He was able to cross paths with President Xi in 2007 when he was Shanghai's civil affairs bureau director.
Second is Meng Qingfeng, who previously held the post of deputy director for the Zhejiang provincial public security bureau and held deputy chief positions at the county, city and provincial levels. He was then appointed as director of the economic crimes unit of the Ministry of Public Security in 2009. Xi was party chief of east China's Zhejiang Province from 2002 to 2007 when the two officials met.
The third is Jing Junhai, former Shaanxi propaganda chief. He is awaiting a promotion yet to be announced. Prior to his appointment as deputy governor of Shaanxi in 2008, he served various roles from the district and city level. He was named the provincial propaganda chief and a standing committee member in 2012. Experts observe that his upcoming post could be either party secretary of Shenzhen or a high-ranking position in the CPC Publicity Department.
