Despite the ongoing rumor that Jennifer Lopez has contributed to the breakdown of Ben Affleck's marriage with Jennifer Garner, it appears that the singer has nothing to do with the once love-struck couple's recent announcement to divorce.
"Jennifer Lopez had nothing to do with it," a source close to the couple told Us Weekly. "Beyond not true, and s--ty."
The "Daredevil" co-stars announced on June 30, Tuesday, that they are heading towards divorce. A few days after the announcement, it was reported that the 42-year-old Oscar winner has allegedly been in contact with his former flame since reconnecting at the Oscars this year.
The actor was seen getting flirty with the "Booty" singer at the award night when he approached her and whispered something in her ear, causing her to playfully swat his arm, New York Daily News reported. The moment, captured on camera, led to the rumor that the once famous couple is getting back together.
The rumor was further fuelled by the recent divorce announcement. However, sources close to Affleck and Garner said that JLo is nowhere responsible for the split. In fact, the "Elektra" actress is fed up with her husband's alleged heavy drinking and the habit of gambling, which has become intolerable lately.
The couple has reportedly been seeking therapy for years and rumors of their split was circulating since May.
Meanwhile, the estranged couple, along with their three kids, has taken a vacation amid their divorce decision and has reportedly gone to Bahamas, where they also have a home. According to recent reports the couple will continue to live on the same property, but in separate residences as they don't want to affect their kids' lives.
