It is rumored that the much anticipated Microsoft Surface Pro 4 may see a possible 2016 release and will sport a fast SSD.

According to Design & Trend Microsoft recently ordered a bulk amount of 256 GB SSD's which are based on Samsung's current NVME technology.

This fast technology will allow the transfer of files at a rate of 2GBps. This comes in contrast with Microsoft Surface Pro 3's Samsung PM851 processor which could transfer the files at a rate of only 600 MBps. Microsoft reportedly ordered 20 million units of the said SSD.

This order is expected to be completed next year. Thus, the launch of Microsoft Surface Pro 4 may depend on the completion of the SSD, according to The Tech Radar.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is also rumored to sport Intel's Skylake CPU, which is designed to further speed up the processing power of the upcoming device. It is also expected to have 16 GB RAM and come in two variants of 12-inch and 14-inch displays. It is being showcased as a "laplet," and not merely as a tablet. The power-packed device will offer stiff competition to Apple's upcoming iPad Pro.

It should also be noted that Microsoft recently announced a new version of Surface Pro 3, which has 8 GB of RAM and is powered by the Core i7 processor. It also has 128 GB SSD and its price is $1299. The upgradations do not end there, as soon the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 will soon have 4G LTE connectivity as well.

This new Surface Pro 3 launch gave more sparks to the rumor that the release date of Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is further delayed.
