A new handset emerged as the likely candidate to become the Moto X 2015 on release date, a new report said. The device bears the model number XT-1578 and is internally known as the Moto Clark, the report added.

The codename, according to Droid Life, is believed to be precursor for the smartphone that when unboxed will be the Moto X 2015. Details about the device is pretty scarce at the moment but the blog report indicated that this supposed Motorola flagship is destined to be issued by Verizon and the main engine is a 6-core Snapdragon 808, the same chip that powers the Nexus 2015 rumored base-model - the LG G4.

Thankfully, however, the leaked information, which Droid Life said is based on a new GFXBench benchmark result sheet, also included loads of specifications for a separate device called the Moto Kinzie with model number XT-1585. It is likely that the same Kinzie gizmo will officially become the Motorola DROID Turbo, which in the United States is an exclusive Verizon offering.

While there is no assurance that the two devices will have the same components, at least in the internals, it is interesting to note that most of what the upcoming DROID would offer could easily fit inside of the Moto X shell.

As listed in the GFXBench result, the Moto Kinzie will boast of an 8-core Snapdragon 810 chip that is paired with 3GB of RAM. The GPU is an Adreno 430 that fires up the device's 5.5-inch QHD display panel, which beams out in 2560 x 1440 screen resolution.

The Kinzie camera combo is 20MP on rear and 4.8MP on front while the on-board memory is 32GB. Out of the box, this supposed new DROID will be powered by Android Lollipop 5.1.1.

If indeed the Moto Clark will end up as the Moto X 2015 and provided it will borrow on the specs showcased by the Kinzie so far, it could be the rumored bigger 3rd-gen Moto X that recent reports said will be launched alongside its regular-sized sibling.

It should be noted as well that there is a possibility that the Moto X this year could be used as base-model for one of the Nexus 2015 models, likely the larger-screen edition.

Rumors are widespread that the Moto X 2015 release date will happen anytime between August and September 2015, with the possibility that Motorola will use the Berlin IFA trade show this year as platform for its launch plans.
