With the use of a smartphone, residents of the Chinese capital can now get blow-by-blow reports of the city's road congestion situation. This is seen as a very beneficial way of avoiding snarled-up areas in Beijing.

The transport commission's WeChat account also offers Beijing residents with data on the location of bus station and subway stations, local taxi services and passenger depots.

Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport spokesperson Rong Jun furthermore remarked that they are also set to release traffic news as well as analysis of important traffic policies and traffic law information.

The real-time traffic and road condition updates will also be posted on a daily basis, he added.

The WeChat account of the commission also serves as an online report-receiving center that accepts queries and concerns over illegal parking lots and other issues.

With the help of the social media account, users can now avoid illegal parking lot charges. Subscribers can simply input or scan the official number of a parking lot and its wardens.

Also, as part of its efforts in keeping up with technology, the commission announced that it will be unveiling a traffic service mobile application with upgraded features at the end of this year.
