Mass production of the next-generation iPhone is reportedly already underway, the latest word from Asia indicates, which suggest too that the iPhone 6S release date will happen as early as September 2015.

According to DigiTimes, a Taiwanese business publication, the large-scale manufacturing of the next iPhone has already started and Apple's production partners - Foxconn and Pegatron - have already received the initial batch of component shipments for the device. As many as 50 million units will be assembled and shipped in the last quarter of 2015 and the 6S and 6S Plus will begin hitting stores worldwide in September, the report added.

As expected, Apple is not confirming anything about the iPhone 6S like when exactly it is coming out and what are the fresh capabilities packed with the handset but the flurry of leaks in the past weeks provided clues on the specs and features that the device will flash out of the box.

Same design with slight modifications

According to Apple Insider, the 6S will basically carry over the build and design seen with the iPhone 6 though a new schematic that allegedly came from Japan hinted that the upcoming device will be 0.2mm thicker than its predecessor. The minor adjustment is mainly because of the use of Force Touch sensor on the new iPhone panel.

The same report noted that Ming-chi Kuo of KGI Securities talked of the same changes in the iPhone 6S in a recent research. Kuo is well known for providing mostly accurate advanced information on upcoming Apple products.

Rose gold variant

Yet while mostly mirroring the 2014 line up, Apple appears to include a new flavour in the iPhone 6S, specifically a rose gold variant that Kuo also mentioned in an earlier report. The latest indicator that this might come true is a post from Sina Weibo, the popular microblogging site from China.

If true, rose gold will be the latest addition to Apple's white, black, gray and gold iPhone editions.

Superfast wireless broadband speed

The next iPhone is also rumored to improve on its wireless broadband speed and the bump is due to the use of a new Qualcomm modem chip deployed with the device. According to 9to5Mac, the 6S LTE speed will be twice of that that users have experienced with the iPhone 6.

Top-tier inner components

The inclusion of high-end chips does not end with LTE for the iPhone 6S as the smartphone is expected to source its muscle and speed from a 64-bit A9 application processor that is reportedly paired with 2GB of RAM, further ensuring of fast, snappy and stable performance.

iOS 9

By default, new iPhones debut with a new mobile operating system which for the 6S is iOS 9. Apple has introduced the software last June via its 2015 WWDC but the killer features hardcoded with it will only be known once the next iPhone is actually unboxed.

That will happen, as mentioned above, a few months from now or anytime in late September 2015, which supply chain sources in Asia said will be the likely iPhone 6S release date.
