With Rupert Wyatt's "Gambit" solo film set to hit theaters next year, "Friday Night Lights" actor Taylor Kitsch has revealed his thoughts on "Magic Mike XXL" actor Channing Tatum playing the card-throwing mutant.

Kitsch played the role of the Cajun mutant in Gavin Hood's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" way back 2009. In his interview with The Daily Beast, the actor said that he did not try-out for the role prior to Tatum's casting as the X-Men superhero. While he is not playing Gambit in Wyatt's solo film, he made an affirmation that Tatum is a "worthy successor."

With regard to Kitsch's role as Gambit in Hood's 2009 "Wolverine" film, the actor said that the role was an enjoyable character to play and taught him a lot, alongside working with Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman. He also said that he desires the best for the actor.

In Hood's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," the clawed mutant went to New Orleans to hunt down Gambit to know information on the whereabouts of Colonel William Stryker and his mutant prison.

Gambit decided to help the self-regenerating mutant to Stryker's hideout after a short battle. Near the conclusion of the film, the Cajun mutant reappeared and told Wolverine that his name as Logan, as the latter lost his memory after being shot in his head.

Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" has made a huge impact on the timeline of the "
"X-Men" series, which has led fans to think on how parallel Tatum's take on Gambit will be with Kitsch's, as per Cinema Blend. Also, it has yet to be revealed if the Cajun mutant will be seen in the 1980s or in the modern timeline.

At the moment, Tatum has commenced preparing for his mutant role, which includes card throwing and the notable Cajun accent.

Wyatt's "Gambit" solo film is slated to premiere in theaters on Oct. 7, 2016.
