EA sports has announced the stars who will join the Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, in the “FIFA 16” cover for each region - Australia, France, Latin America, Mexico and The United Kingdom.

Based on over nine million votes from fans, the first time in the franchise’s history, the stars to grace the “FIFA 16” cover alongside Messi, have been decided.

Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson, who was just confirmed to be the new captain, will be featured on the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland “FIFA 16” cover. Henderson, is the first player from Liverpool to appear on the franchise game cover, and has beaten Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and Thibaut Courtois to come out on top.

“Being part of the first FIFA cover vote was an incredible honor and it’s an amazing feeling to know that the public voted for me to come out on top and to be on the cover of ‘FIFA 16’ alongside Messi,” said Henderson, according to Liverpool Football Club.

Matildas defender Steph Catley, has emerged as the winner for the Australian edition of “FIFA 16” cover and will be the first female player to be featured on the cover in the game’s history. However, one more athlete will appear, alongside Messi and Catley in the final cover. EA Sports will reveal the other star on August 13, in Sydney.

“Words can’t describe the excitement I’m feeling about being on the cover of ‘FIFA 16,’ it’s a dream come true,” said Catley, as reported by The Guardian.

For the Japan edition, Shinji Kagawa, one of the star players for Borussia Dortmund, has been voted as the winner. Chelsea FC’s Juan Cuadrado won the Latin America “FIFA 16” cover vote, Antoine Griezmann from Atlético Madrid will grace the France cover of the upcoming title, and C.D. Guadalajara’s Marco Fabián will be featured in the Mexico “FIFA 16” cover, alongside Messi, as per EA Sports news.

“FIFA 16” will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, starting September 22 in North America and September 24 globally.
