Apple iPod Touch 6th Gen was formally announced last week showcasing numerous upgraded features in comparison to its predecessor, Apple iPod Touch 5th Gen.
The Apple iPod Touch 6th Gen release is rumored to happen in September. Apple iPod Touch 5th Gen did not fare well in the market. Thus, Apple is pulling out all stops to design the upcoming device with some killer specs, which will appeal to the audience.
Here is a detailed comparison between the two devices.
100 Percent Touch Device, No Buttons: The Home button which was present on the body in iPod 5th generation is now removed from its successor, so it is a 100 percent touch device, according to The Latino post.
New Gold Color: As far as the color range is concerned, most of the colors are same for iPod Touch 6th Gen. The only change is that iPod Touch 5th Gen's yellow color is now replaced with gold. In addition, the blue color from the previous iPod range is now more of a teal color.
Retina Display: The latest iPod Touch 6th Gen is equipped with Apple's PPI Retina Display, which in turn sports the same pixel density as found in the current model of iPhone 6. The earlier version did not sport this feature at all. Apple earlier seemed to toy with the idea of making this iPod with a Touch ID finger print scanner, but this idea was dropped at the last moment. This means that the device cannot be used to support Apple Pay. This feature is available in a majority of Apple devices these days.
More RAM Capacity: The latest device is also equipped with a 64 bit Apple A8 SoC, and also double the RAM capacity in comparison with iPod Touch 5th Gen. It can hold up to 128 GB of data and media files.
Apart from these reasons, there are a few common factors also between the two devices. The iPod Touch 6th Gen sports the same weight as the iPod Touch 5th Gen, which is 88 grams, according to The Giz Mag. Both the devices are made up of Aluminum as their core body material and they both the devices sport a 4-inch display screen.
