The photography exhibition "Beautiful China, Amazing Silk Road" opened at Sydney's World Square on Friday, July 24, 2015. The exhibition showcased photographic masterpieces of historical heritages, beautiful sceneries and the charms of China's ancient Silk Road.

Displayed at the exhibition were 100 pieces from more than 20 Chinese and Australian photographers. The beautiful photos and different perspectives engaged by the photographers well present the vibrancy of the ancient Silk Road to the Australian audiences. These works bring to Sydney the natural landscapes, cultural customs, and most importantly, the charms of western China.

"The Silk Road was like a business card of ancient China to the rest of the world, on which peace, friendship and cooperation were written," said Li Huaxin, China's Consul General to Australia in Sydney, at the exhibition's opening ceremony.

Li added: "China's current 'Silk Road Economic Belt' and '21st Century Maritime Silk Road' initiatives bring together the rapidly growing Chinese economy and the interests of the countries along the Road, providing them new opportunities. The initiatives inherit the Silk Road's spirit of openness, inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit; they also follow the trend of our times--peace, development, and win-win cooperations."

"As strategic partners, China and Australia have a broad range of prospects for cooperation. Australia's current economic reforms, structural adjustments and vision to develop Northern Australia echo and strongly complement China's 'Road and Belt' initiatives. The connection of the macro-development strategies of our two countries will surely inject strong momentum to deepen bilateral cooperation, “added Consul General Li.

Mark Coure, Member of Parliament representing the Premier of New South Wales Mike Baird, said that these beautiful photographs provided a wonderful opportunity for Australia to learn China's profound history.

More than 100 guests attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition, which lasted on July 25th.
