Much to the audience's surprise, it turns out that "The Fault In Our Stars" actor Ansel Elgort has a cameo role to play in the newly released movie "Paper Towns."

It seems that after witnessing the success of "TFIOS" and owing to the increasing popularity of the 21-year-old actor, the makers of the recently released movie decided to include the young star in a cameo role in another John Green film adaptation.

Elgort, who played the famous role of ill-fated Gus in the 2014 movie, is seen as a cheeky gas station attendant who has a big dragon tattoo on his bicep. Quentin, played by Nat Wolff, and his entourage bumps into the Gus when they are out to look for elusive neighbor, Margo, played by Cara Delevingne.

"Do you like dragons?" asks the attendant, with the name tag as Mason, eyeing one of Quentin's friend to which he got a stern reply in negative and the group drives away.

Meanwhile, director Jake Schreier revealed that Elgort almost ended up playing a character named Gus once again as they were planning to cast him as a security guard with the same name at the Orlando Sun Trust building, MTV reported.

"Our options were limited," said Schreier, before adding that they later changed their mind and offered him the role of gas station attendant.

Elgort is not the only star who is having a cameo in the movie. Green, the novelist whose book the movie is based on, also has a small role in the movie.

Green told ET Online how he hounded over the director and convinced him for a small role. Although Green is not seen on screen, his voice voices the dad of Margo's former best friend, the one who cheated with her boyfriend,  and screams that he has a gun.
