Rumors about an Apple design electric car has been steadily circulating in the tech community and the latest rumors claim that the tech giant is working with BMW. On the other hand, the German car manufacturer said that it is willing to build, sell, and service Apple's envisioned electric car.

According to Daily Mail, Apple is planning to base its electric vehicle on BMW's i3 model. Additionall,y Apple CEO Tim Cook recently visited BMW's factory located in Leipzig, Germany to inspect the current manufacturing status of the i3.

Apple and BMW have been cooperating with each other for years. In fact, BMW is the first car manufacturer to integrate iPod functionality into its years almost a decade ago.

Apple's electric car project known only by its codename Titan was approved by Cook in 2014. Currently, the project is headed by former Ford engineer and current Vice Preside Steve Zadesky. Apple has also tapped the services of former Mercedes-Benz chief executive for research and development Johann Jungwirth.

Despite the fact that Apple has kept its silence about its car project, several leaks proved that the company is on the process of hiring hundreds of employees to work on its own electric-car project.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple is joining tech giant Google in their quest of creating a computer system that will be integrated into vehicles or building their own cars. Recently, tech companies have slowly started to integrate their presence in the auto industry.

Many analysts said that the upsurge in the price of fossil fuel have caused several tech companies and car manufacturers to work with each other in order to develop energy efficient cars for the future.
