After years of attempts, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) has marked significant breakthroughs in the field of laser weapon technology, leading the industry to safer and wider applications.

According to a state-owned China News Service report, researchers have already found out a way to break the field's bottleneck. Western countries have previously banned exporting laser technology-related items to the country after finding out that China's end products could pose serious danger to some extent.

Experts have finally created China's first dual-beam pulsed laser deposition system, which has already successfully passed hypersonic wind tunnel tests, the report stated.

The result comes after researchers did not give up when their initial plan, which is to test laser deposition of diamond-like carbon films if it can be used to expand the laser technology application, still failed tests.

Field experts have long been conducting large-scale testing of laser platforms for the past years. The recent feat made them believe that the country is now catching up to leading global standards.

China has also made a dual-wavelength free-switching solid-state laser using a "non-linear thinking." The model has already been applied successfully to a particular fighter jet's take-off and landing monitoring system.

This achievement is considered as another step toward producing laser weapons that are safe to the human eye.

Though laser weapon technology is viewed as a huge advantage, it also faces hurdles, such as problems in overcoming adverse weather conditions and the issue of large energy source requirement.

The said technology is touted as part of directed energy, a cutting-edge form of military technology.
