The last Android firmware update for Galaxy Note 4 users on Sprint was Android 5.0 Lollipop. Hence, the new update will be skipping other updates like the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and Android 5.1 Lollipop. The changelog only mentions that apart from Android 5.1.1 and Stagefright patch, it will also fix message waiting indicator issue and other miscellaneous problems.

The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA update notification from Sprint states the update also carries enhanced features and performance improvements. Once the device is updated to Android 5.1.1, users will not be able to roll back to previous software version.

The Stagefright is an ongoing security threat that is called as the worst vulnerability problem that has ever happened to the Android OS. It allows the hacker to send a malicious MMS to the user and remotely gain control of the handset to steal confidential and sensitive data stored on it, the International Business Times reported.

Since the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop has been rolled out by Sprint, other carriers in the United States are also expected to release the update soon. As of this writing, it is not known as to when the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will arrive for the worldwide Note 4 users.
