"Prometheus 2" is reported to push through and commence its filming soon. The Ridley Scott film stars "X-Men" actor Michael Fassbender and "Sherlock Holmes" actress Noomi Rapace.

A scan of Scott's upcoming sci-fi film feature in the latest issue of Total Film was posted on Prometheus2-Movie, revealing the filming will start in January 2016. Scott also told the publication that he had returned into the sci-fi realm and he found it adorable. While a filming date has been plotted into the film's timeline, the release date is still cloudy at this point.

Since "Prometheus" is a sci-fi franchise, it has been speculated that Fox is going to merge Scott's "Prometheus" and Neill Blomkamp's "Alien" film into a single cinematic universe, according to Collider. Film studios are taking the cross-over concept into account, such as "Insidious" and "Sinister" as well as "X-Men" and "Fantastic Four" cross-over.

Aside from "Prometheus 2," Fassbender will also be seen in Danny Boyle's biopic film "Steve Jobs" as the titular character and in Bryan Singer's upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" as the young Magneto/Erik Lensherr. On the other hand, Rapace is also set to appear in Steven Shainberg sci-fi thriller "Rupture" and in Siofra Campbell's thriller film "The Price."

The upcoming project's 2012 predecessor "Prometheus" centers on a team voyaging across the universe. They find a sculpture of a humanoid head along with stone cylinders of alien blood, only to discover that they have companion.

With Scott helming the film, "Green Lantern" writer Michael Green is on board to pen the script of the film. Green is known as the writer for the TV special "The Oscars," James Mangold's untitled "Wolverine" sequel, and Dens Villeneuve's untiled "Blade Runner" project.

Since the project is in its early phase of development, additional cast members, exact plot details, and release date are yet to be confirmed.
