“Person of Interest” co-showrunner Greg Plageman recently hinted that season 5 may be the end of the series. Given that the show only received a 13-episode order from CBS, many fans speculate that this will be the end of the road for the drama series. He said that if the show fails to get renewed next season, they will be more than ready to accept knowing that they have given it their all.
In an interview with Zap2It, Plageman said that the fate of the show is entirely up to the network executives. He, however, added that they are also open to transferring to a different network if the series will not be renewed for a sixth season. Plageman also said that they are open to different outlets, such as streaming.
"Person of Interest" season 5 may only run for 13 episodes, but Plageman promised fans that they will not feel disappointed when the season is over. He added that the writers and producers are out to deliver an exciting narrative. Since the season will be compressed, he revealed that some stories may have to take the back seat. He, however, claimed that the cast and staff are doing their best to step things up a notch.
In the event that CBS will decide to cancel the show, Plageman claimed that they are beyond ready. He said that each season finale since the first one could serve as a series finale. He added that they are not going to do anything different this time around.
Meanwhile, Jim Caviezel, who plays John Reese in the series, revealed that season 4 has been definitely challenging for his character. According to Comic Book Resources, John really took Detective Joss Carter's (Taraji P. Henson) death to heart. He said that it became a wake up call to him. He also hinted that fans can expect more drama and action come season 5.
