Well-known farming equipment supplier, John Deere & Co., retracts over 2,000 units of lawn tractors because of defective handbrake arm last August 4, 2015.
John Deere & Co., a giant in the agricultural sector based in Moline, Illinois, has issued a recall on lawn tractors with serial codes that are preceded by 1GXD from the product lines D170, D160, D155, D140, D130, D125, and D110 .
This is in view of the fact that the specified units given out were equipped with flawed brake arms that when fail could result in serious accidents involving crashes and other incidents regarding the fast spinning blades of the contraption, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC).
The Commission also stated that consumers should check the lowermost left and right of the unit's hood to verify its model, usually in yellow font, and to look for the serial number under the fender to see if their machine is part of the defective line.
If the machine fits the description of the faulty models or falls in the list provided by the company's website, it is advised that the consumer should prevent themselves from using the mower, and contact the company for repairs without payment.
John Deere has also made attempts to personally give care towards those given the faulty products.
There have been no reports of injuries or deaths related to the tractors, but the company has advised not to operate the mowers.
Around 370 units were sold in Canada while 1,700 faulty models were bought in America. The models were sold in months of May to August of this year with prices ranging up from $1,700 to roughly $2,700 and all were made in the United States.
