After being axed from Fox despite a successful run, "The Mindy Project" is set to premiere its fourth season exclusively on Hulu on Sept. 15.

The show's creator and the star, Mindy Kaling, was speaking at the Television Critics Assn. Press tour in Beverly Hills when she announced the premiere date of the hit romantic comedy series on the online streaming site.

"I'm so grateful to Hulu for giving us this opportunity. I just want to make the show better than it's ever been," said the 36-year-old actress, Los Angeles Times reported.

The 26-episode season will be shared on the weekly basis, one episode each week, starting Wednesday, September 15, just like it had on network TV. The announcement is reportedly cheered on by the show's fans who wanted to see how the show's main character, Mindy, will entail as a mother since the last season ended with the news of her accidental pregnancy.

Although the show's creator has assured the fans that despite the transition from TV network to online streaming site, the show will not be altered drastically. However, season 4 is expected to be a star-studded one with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Freida Pinto expected to join the cast.

While the "Inception" actor will play the role of Mindy's husband, Pinto will be wooing her boyfriend Danny while playing her doppleganger. "The Big Bang Theory"s Kunal Nayyar, Garett Dillahunt of "Raising Hopes" fame, "House Of Cards" actress Sakina Jaffrey and "Royal Pains" actor Ajay Mehta are also set to appear in the upcoming season, E! News reported.

The fourth season will majorly focus how Mindy and her boyfriend, Danny Castellano, played by Chris Messina, will hilariously struggle with the baby and its needs, despite themselves being gynaecologists.
