According to a report by the Want China Times, while corrupt officials within China’s bureaucracy continue to evade the investigative spotlight, authorities still manage to pin them down.
Some of these corrupt officers have tried not to make the same mistakes which were made by those who were already caught, but they still failed in the end to hide the anomalies.
The report cited 11 cases in which officials fabricated lies, colluded with other suspects, transferred ill-gotten wealth and got rid of incriminating evidence.

Other officials who possess more power and influence eliminate whistle-blowers who try to testify against them.
A local graft-buster in Jiangxi explained that corrupt officials have shown a greater tenacity in fighting back against investigating authorities.
Those who have connections with officials involved in the investigation or with the judiciary often use them to try and outsmart the authorities.
One local official was overly wary of the communication he facilitates to the point that he even bought multiple phone cards and made use of unregistered phones to talk with accomplices, according to Mao Jianiao, a local corruption investigator in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
Mao explained that in interrogating the targets, they have to be strategic and ensure that their methods are effective in getting information.
"No matter how cunning the fox is, it will never outwit the hunter," as one official involved in corruption investigation put it.
