Mike Thurmeier and Galen Chu's animated comedy film "Ice Age 5" has got its official title and it will be called "Ice Age: Collision Course." The film has also changed its release date from July 15, 2016 to July 22, 2016.
The reason for the change in the film's release date is the foreseen competition with Paul Feig's "Ghostbusters" reboot, Steve Quale's action-thriller film "The Lake," and Diane Kern's romantic drama film "La La Land," as per Screen Rant. With its new release date, Thurmeier and Chu's upcoming film will only have to compete with Guy Ritchie's "King Arthur."
Set during the Ice Age, "Ice Age: Collision Course" stands as the sequel to Steve Martino and Thurmeier's 2012 "Ice Age: Continental Drift" and the fifth installment in the "Ice Age" franchise. The other film titles are "Ice Age," "Ice Age: The Meltdown," and "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs."
It stars the voices of John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Keke Palmer, Quen Latifah, Ray Romano, Roshon Wana Sykes, Jay Leno, Chris Wedge, and Adam Young, among others.
With Thurmeier and Chu set to helm the film, Michael Wilson is on board to pen the film script while Wedge, Lori Forte, and Carlos Saldanha will produce the upcoming film. Additional characters and exact plot details for the upcoming film are yet to be announced, as per Coming Soon.
Thurmeier and Chu's "Ice Age: Collision Course" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on July 22, 2016 while Feig's "Ghostbusters" reboot is set to hit theaters on July 15, 2016.
