Sometimes the eyes move way past the face and immediately a little below the neck.
Based from what happened in a dating show, time proved once more that men indeed consider bust measurement when sizing up ladies for a probable date.
In one episode of “If You Are the One” (“Fei Cheng Wu Rao”) shot in a water park, the contestants apparently were in their swimwear. Considering how swimsuits define the contour of a woman’s body, the male contestants had an easier time analyzing the size of the bust of their potential dates.
Of course, it’s not a raunchy show and the episode tried to maintain a wholesome theme. No hands were used in checking out the bust. The ever-curious eyes did all the work.
Did the female contestants also scrutinize the chest size of the men or ogled at their abs or gawked at their biceps? Perhaps.
Did some bother to stare at the men’s other body parts? Perhaps.
Given the conservative culture of the country, women can be extra discreet when it comes to the appreciation of the male figure. A sincere compliment of a man’s body expressed verbally by a woman may be deemed inappropriate or unwomanly by the elders and other conservative minds.
The same unwritten rule applies to men, too.
Traditional society of yesteryears even forbade a man to hold a woman’s hand unless they were married.
But China is now in the 21st century and it’s now 2015; so, the brains behind the dating show put the male contestants in a situation that will test their physical strength and added a bit of sensuality in it: They each carried in their arms a female contestant, and the one who did it the longest time possible is declared winner.
Yes, that’s the show’s version of highlighting a man’s masculinity and more.
As Raymond Zhou said in China Daily, the situation was a “pretext” for both contestants to involve themselves in some physical interaction without demonstrating lewdness.
