'Witcher' Series Update: Geralt Isn't Main Character In 'Witcher 4', New Game Plus Mode In 'Witcher 3' Expansion Package

"Witcher 4" will not have a release date anytime in the near future, the CD Projekt Red CEO Marcin Iwinski revealed.

When asked during an interview with Gamespot  what he thought the next spin in the "Witcher" franchise would be, Iwinski simply said, "Honestly speaking, we have not."

Perhaps, one of the reasons for CD Projekt Red to set aside ambitions for "Witcher 4" is because of the push for their forthcoming action video game "Cyberpunk 2077" which is originally based on Cyberpunk series.

Speaking about the "Witcher" series, Iwinski explained that it merits a little rest, although he did note that the franchise is a field rich with storylines of amazing potential. He continued to be tight-lipped regarding any future release date.

"We definitely are not annualizing a franchise or anything--it's about the experience," he stated regarding the Witcher world, and then continued to add, "The world of The Witcher is gigantic and it's great to tell these stories, but I don't know when this will happen."

If there is one thing CD Projekt Red is sure of right now, it is that Geralt will no longer be the main character. In "Witcher 3," his story was finally put into a sudden rest.

Meanwhile, fans of the last game installment still have enough substantial materials left to dig through a possibility of a free new game plus mode, "Heart of Stone." This will assure an additional content of more than ten hours, CD Projekt said. It will be set in No Man's Land where Oxenfurt is said to include characters both new and dearly missed.

The "Witcher 3" expansion package alone is said to be  similar in size with all of "Witcher 2."

All these are included in the free new DLC for "Witcher 3," which means that the most recent installment's fans need not to worry about running out of new stuff, regardless of whether "Witcher 4" takes a few years to come.
