More than a decade after "The Notebook" brought the audience to tears and established Ryan Gosling's Noah and Rachel McAdams' Allie as the epitome of a couple in eternal love, The CW is said to be developing a TV series based on the romantic drama.

The news is broken by The CW president Mark Pedowitz himself, who told reporters at the Television Critics Association's press tour in Beverly Hills on Aug. 11, Tuesday, that the project is at the very beginning of the development stage, Entertainment Weekly reported.

The TV series will be serialized format of the 2004 hit flick, which was in turn adapted from the bestselling 1996 novel by Nicholas Sparks. The TV series will follow the romantic journey of Noah and Allie in the backdrop of the racial politics, economic inequities during post-World War II of the late 1940s in North Carolina.

Unlike in the Nick Cassavetes-directed movie, wherein the story is narrated from the present day by an elderly man who is telling the tale of their romantic journey to his Alzheimer struck wife, the anticipated The CW series is likely to omit the story's elderly version of the couple.

"I don't believe we're going to see the older couple-what they become," declared Pedowitz before expressing his gratitude to Sparks for choosing The CW for the TV series of his hit novel. The project will be produced by Nicholas Sparks Productions in association with Warner Bros.

The cast of the recently-announced show is not yet declared. Gosling and McAdams, who first portrayed Noah and Allie in 2004, were known have dated briefly from 2005 to 2007, with a reunion in 2008 before parting ways, Us Weekly reported.
