Details about Google's Nexus 2015 flagships leaked anew and what have been revealed so far hinted of two smartphones worthy of engaging in a slugfest with top industry players. The next Nexus is shaping up as the best pure Android release ever.
From France, NowhereElse's @OnLeaks largely confirmed in new tweets that Google is replacing the Motorola Nexus 6 with two handsets coming from LG and Huawei. According to Tech Crunch, the LG phone is a 5.2-inch device that most blog reports referred to as the LG Nexus 5 2015.
The Huawei Nexus is a 5.7-inch monster that appears as the direct descendant to the Nexus 6 of last year. There are some reports that label the bigger Nexus as the Nexus 6 2015.
The details shared by @OnLeaks indicate that the Nexus 2015 represents a big departure from the earlier makes. With its upcoming flagships, Google is taking on the premium path that says there are more reasons to love the upcoming Nexus.
Both the LG and Huawei Nexus can easily upstage Google's bet from last year and here are the reasons why:
Wrapped in metal
@OnLeaks says the two Nexus phones will boast of metal body, likely no more plastic material encasing the devices. As high-end components are expected inside of both units, the leak indicates that premium is inside and out of the Nexus 2015 that is a leapfrog from last year's Nexus 6.
Rear fingerprint reader
Fingerprint reader is now a smartphone flagship standard and the Nexus 2015 appears ready to comply but with a twist. Instead of the usual front-located fingerprint scanner the devices will rock the same technology rear-positioned. The unusual design is explained by the Nexus phone's lack of physical front panel button, which Google does not intend to change with this year's render.
Front facing speakers
Another fresh feature of the Nexus 2015 is sound blasters on front that should give a new dimension to the flagship, which is not present with the last Nexus.
USB Type-C
This is another emerging mobile device standard. USB Type-C connectivity facilitates two things for a device - faster data sharing/transfer and super quick charging. And the fact that the technology connects in any orientation is a welcome bonus.
For the most part, @OnLeaks' shared gadget details are reliable but the actual confirmation of the new Google Nexus 2015 information can only come on its release date, which could happen as early as September alongside Android M.
