A new animated motion picture unit is entering the business, as China's Original Force Animation has been quietly setting up its own player and getting its first batch of film titles in production.

Holding its debut event on Wednesday in Los Angeles, the firm has unveiled its set of features that are currently underway.

Executives also shared that the motion picture unit has been gathering a team of veterans in the field of filmmaking.

A few of those named are producer Christopher Jenkins ("Home"), director John Eng ("Rugrats Go Wild"), Bob Henderson, a Home Improvement executive producer, and marketing expert Peter Adeez, who previously worked for Universal Pictures and MGM as marketing chief.

The roster of their first projects includes "Duck Duck Goose," which will be helmed by Jenkins, who will also be handling the screenplay together with Rob Muir. The voice cast line-up will have Zendauya, Greg Proops, Lance Lim, Ken Jeonhg, Jennifer Grey, Diedrich Bader and Rick Overton.

The film unit will also have "OldZilla" as its project. Described by filmmakers as "Godzilla Meets One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," the animation will be directed by Henderson and co-written with Art Everett.

Completing the first batch are "QQ Speed," a co-production with Tencent Holding Ltd.; "Ratchet and Clank," a co-production with CNHK, Rainmaker and Blockade; "Where the Mountain Meets the Moon"; and "Riding Giants."

The new film unit is co-presided by Sandra Rabins and Penney Finkleman Cox, who were previously affiliated with Sony Pictures Animation and DreamWorks Animation.

"After years of successfully working as a studio-for-hire, Original Force is creating its own content and global IP, and we believe we have an inaugural slate that will resonate all over the world," Rabins said.

The motion picture unit, wherein Original Force founder Harley Zhao is a co-partner, aims to release a CG feature film every 18 months.
