A holographic screen is now being expected with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S7. The smartphone is expected to hit the market in December.

Reports suggest that the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office has published a patent application from Samsung, which discloses holograms being possible in smartphones.

The patent shows a mobile phone that is able to project objects above the screen. The images seem to be icons rather than complete pictures or movies. The user will be able to choose icons by touch, indicating the projector will utilize camera of the device to detect interactions. The South-Korean giant Samsung utilizes a special case with a translucent panel to create 3D objects.

Reports also suggest that the device bears the codename Jungfrau. It is expected that the Galaxy S7 will  come with a 5.5-inch 4K Super AMOLED display. In addition, the smartphone is equipped with 5G network support for better performance and faster browsing.

The handset may also come with 4 GB of RAM, TechTimes reported. For storage, the Galaxy S7 could come with 128 GB, 64 GB and 32 GB variants. Rumors suggest that the smartphone will have a 10 MP front-facing camera and 30 MP rear-facing camera.

According to reports, the Galaxy S7 will run using Android M, the latest version of Android. The Galaxy S7 will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor, according to Android Community.

Furthermore, the device will have a new camera feature dubbed 'gigapixel' that will enable the user to capture images with more clarity. According to reports, the Galaxy S7 will sport an infrared sensor that can  measure body temperature precisely.

It is expected that the smartphone will have different price ranges than its predecessor. The 32 GB variant is expected to cost around $999.
