A new "Scooby-Doo" animated film may actualize to the big screen with a new director attached, "Duck Dodgers" producer Tony Cervone.

Cervone has been tapped by Warner Bros. to take the director's seat for a "Scooby-Doo" film, as per Deadline. Aside from the television series "Duck Dodgers," Cervone is also known for his works, which include "Tom and Jerry & The Wizard of Oz" with Spike Brandt and the television series "The Looney Tunes Show."

Based from Hanna-Barbera cartoon series, Cervone's "Scooby-Doo" had its live-action predecessors with   Raja Gosnell's "Scooby-Doo" in 2002 and "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed" in 2004. The two live-action films have made an estimated gross of $457.1 million in a global scale.

According to Cinema Blend, it was not revealed if the upcoming animated film will take a 2D or 3D path. While the cartoon series is best recognized in a 2D format, seeing Warner Bros. release a "Scooby-Doo" film in 3D will not be a surprise.

Along with Cervone helming the film, "The Dark Knight" producer Charles Roven, "The International" producer Richard Suckle, and "The Lego Movie" producer Allison Abbate will co-produce the film.

Roven and Suckle will reunite with the upcoming animated film, since David O. Russell's crime drama film "American Hustle" in 2013. Meanwhile, Abbate is also known for producing Brad Bird's action adventure film "The Iron Giant," Wes Anderson's comedy adventure "Fantastic Mr. Fox," and Tim Burton and Mike Johnson's animated fantasy film "Corpse Bride."

"Phineas And Ferb" and "Family Guy's" Dan Povenmire is set to executive produce the film while "The Jetsons" writer Matt Lieberman is on board to pen the screenplay.

With Cervone holding the chance to bring "Scooby-Doo" to life, exact details like the voices behind main characters Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, Velma, and Scooby-Doo, the plot, and the release date are yet to be revealed.
