The inclusion of Intel's next-generation Gen 9 graphics and media engine is a major improvement in Skylake. The chipmaker company has made improvements to the hardware responsible for decoding and encoding video and the hardware responsible for handling 3D rendering.

The media improvements will allow for improved efficiency when playing back advanced video streams as the chipmaker has included dedicated hardware to manage decoding of video-compression formats such as VP8 and HEVC.

The improvements in 3D graphics, on the other hand, will allow for more of the famous personal computer games to run easily at good-quality settings.

Furthermore, a dedicated image-signal processor is one of the new additions to the Skylake chip. The company said that the image-signal processor will be capable of supporting four cameras. The image-signal processor can capture 1080p video at 60 fps and can support a 13-megapixel sensor. Also, it comes with many advanced capabilities.

The integrated image-signal processor will allow for reduced costs relative to a separate image-signal processor. The integrated image-signal processor lead to lower consumption of power and a smaller physical footprint relative to a separate image-signal processor.

According to a Tech Times report, Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will release on October 4, 2015.
