One of the most exciting players in the spring tournaments is Markelle Fultz. He recently announced his college choice.

Fultz was recruited by Arizona, Kentucky and Louisville but after an official visit to Washington, it seemed like he was headed to the Huskies.

Markelle, a 6-5 combo guard will now join Washington's 2016 ranked recruiting class which already has New Zealand big man Sam Timmins. He explained his decision to ESPN.

"The main reason I am going to Washington is my connection with Coach Romar," said Fultz. "I trust his plan for me, I feel like I fit into their system, and I know he can help me develop my game. He has coached guys that have made it to the NBA, and that's where I want to be someday."

Because of his height and scoring ability, Fultz drew comparisons to D'Angelo Russell but ESPN contends he's more of Reggie Jackson, now with the Detroit Pistons.

Meanwhile, Kentucky did not lament Fultz's decision as they are still on track with other point guard targets. Kobi Simmons appears to be their best bet.

Simmons' father, Demond Stephens, confirmed to Kentucky.com that an offer was extended and Coach John Calipari has kept in touch.

There were rumors that the Wildcats shifted focus because of offers to Dennis Smith, Jr. and D'Aaron Fox, but Stephens refuted that, saying it's all part of the recruiting process.

"You can't expect these coaches to just sit and say, 'Well I'm going to pray that you're going to pick me,'" Stephens, himself an AAU coach notes. "'No. 'I'm going to go recruit, and if you pick me, you do. And if you don't, I've got another one.'"
