It seems like the much awaited “NCIS” season 13, will see totally different and unexpected things happening with the fan favorite Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), during his recovery from the gunshot wounds.

“We’re going to see some changes in Gibbs that are going to throw people a bit,” showrunner Gary Glasberg told TV Line. “[Mark] Harmon is doing some fantastic work right now in just subtle nuances. So, physically, you’re going to see changes. Emotionally, you’re going to see changes. At the end of the day, things that you wouldn’t normally associate with Leroy Jethro Gibbs are going to happen.”

While fans can’t expect Gibbs to be away from duty for the entire season, they can certainly imagine at least few weeks with Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), Timothy Mcgee (Sean Murray) and CIA officer Joanna Teague (Mimi Rogers), being out in the field to take down “The Calling,” Cartermatt reported.

During the period of Gibbs’ recovery, DiNozzo will more likely be leading the team. As for the relationship between Gibbs and DiNozzo, showrunner has previously hinted at some conflicts.

Glasberg has also teased fans that the “NCIS” season 12 finale events will have psychological effects on Gibbs, as he goes through traumatic experience that changes someone.

The upcoming “NCIS” season 13, will kick off from where the last season ended, in which Gibbs is being rushed into surgery, with “Two and a Half Men” star Jon Cryer as the surgeon. The premiere episode titled “Stop the Bleeding,” will be more emotional, with Gibbs struggling to make it.

“Really, the whole first half of the [premiere] is this emotional roller coaster ride, of Gibbs’ surgery,” Glasberg added.

The all-new installment “NCIS” season 13 is all set to premiere on Sept. 22, Tuesday.
