Universal Studios has dominated the summer movies of 2015 while DC is preparing for its explosive features next year.
According to Cinema Blend, three of the top five slots on the highest domestic grossing films for this year are distributed by the studio.
Universal Pictures' top releases include Colin Trevorrow's dino-sequel "Jurassic World," James Wan's action car-racing film "Furious 7," Elizabeth Banks' musical comedy film "Pitch Perfect 2," Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda's animated film "Minions," and F. Gary Gray's musical biopic "Straight Outta Compton."
Meanwhile, DC is viewed as a winner, though it did not release a film this summer. While fans have not seen a number of explosive films from DC, the former is gearing on the release of two films, which will help shape up its Cinematic Universe.
At the San Diego Comic Con, the studio unveiled the trailers for Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and David Ayer's "Suicide Squad." Both films set-up the future of DC's Cinematic Universe and indicates a potential to the studio's future.
Universal Pictures will be releasing a number of films in the latter part of the year, including M. Night Shaymalan's horror comedy "The Visit," Baltasar Kormakur's adventure thriller "Everest," Danny Boyle's biopic film "Steve Jobs," Guillermo del Toro's horror film "Crimson Peak," and Chris reynaud and Yarrow Cheney's animated film "The Secret Life of Pets."
As for DC, the studio will release their anticipated comic book-based films, including Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," is set to premiere in theaters on Mar. 25, 2016 and David Ayer's "Suicide Squad," which is set to hit theaters on Aug. 5, 2016.
At the moment, it is assumed that Universal Pictures will not see the same consecutive success it had; however, it is foreseen that there will be no substantial drop in the studio's gross record, as the studio has devoted its funds in the right artists.
