Many were excited when Volvo unveiled its new flagship sedan, the S90, and announced that it will be released in 2016. However, car enthusiasts were ecstatic after a recent leak showed a photo of a die-cast version of the car.

According to Autoblog, the 1:43 die cast scale model of the Volvo S90 was leaked by a Chinese website and was eventually picked up by several car blogging websites. Additional reports claim that the photo of the scale-model is the exact replica of what the S90 will look like once it hits the market.

Many car experts said that the car's design is reminiscent with that of the Concept Coupe. Additionally, the scale model also features the Thor's Hammer LED headlight design which is currently found on the Volvo XC90 crossover.

The S90 borrows several design cues from the Concept Coupe like the C-shaped taillights, narrow pillars and its unique wheel design. When Volvo first announced the car, the company made it clear that it plans to directly compete with premium auto manufacturers from Japan, United Kingdom and Germany.

Once the S90 is released it will go head-to-head with rivals like the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Jaguar XF and the Mercedes-Benz E Class, according to Digital Trends. In the past, several die-cast models of cars were leaked prior to their official market release. Among these long list of cars include the Dodge Viper and the Land Rover Discovery.

The Volvo S9 will have three engine options; hybrid, supercharged four cylinder and turbocharged four cylinder.
