New Orleans Pelicans Anthony Davis has bulked up to 253 pounds, which could allow him to bang bodies and score more in the paint.

According to SB Nation, Davis has been working out during the summer with head strength and conditioning coach Jason Sumerlin, who noted that Davis has become stronger than ever.

Davis has also been eating healthy, which has allowed him to maintain 10 percent body fat.

Nonetheless, there are still concerns as to whether he can carry the extra weight and not lose explosiveness.

Everyone was aware of Davis' potential when he entered the league in 2012 weighing at around just 222 pounds.

However, his lithe frame raised questions as to whether he is strong enough to handle big NBA centers and power forwards with his light frame.

With the added weight, the Pelicans are hopeful their star forward could maximize his potential.

Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry is also encouraging Davis to take plenty of 3-pointers next season.

Davis has been working on his shooting and swears to take those 3-pointers if the opportunity presents itself.

Over at the Charlotte Hornets, a players that needs to bulk up like Davis is rookie Frank Kaminsky.

Hornets coach Steve Clifford told the Charlotte Observer during an interview that Kaminsky is good off the dribble and would usually beat guys going to the basket but needs to add strength so he doesn't get pushed off his lane to the rim.

Clifford observed that in college, Kaminsky would prefer to take 8-to-10 footers rather than go to the basket to avoid banging bodies with opposing big men.

If Kaminsy gets stronger, he'll be able to stay longer in the shaded area and shoot from shorter range.

Kaminsky, according to Clifford, looked fresher and quicker during NBA assistant Tim Grgurich's camp.

The rookie is also a quick learner and a good worker and is expected to pick up things quickly.
