Director Wes Ball has revealed that there is so much to look forward to on his film "Maze Runner: The Death Cure."

In his interview with Collider, Ball said that "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" will be much bigger than its predecessors, as something occurred off screen. While the director did not specify what exactly happened behind the cameras, he also mentioned that the third installment of the "The Maze Runner" film series was going to be cool, since they are going to push it a year after "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials."

Based on James Dashner's "The Maze Runner" novel series, Ball's "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" will present some deviations from the source, as per Cinema Blend. The third film incarnation will showcase a portion of the third novel, as some elements from the pages of the third book have been already integrated in Ball's "Maze Runner: The Scorched Trials."

"Maze Runner: The Scorched Trials" follows Thomas and the Gladers after they have escaped the Maze. They are set to face new challenges in an open landscape, which is full of unpredictable hurdles. Meanwhile, "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" will see Thomas as he embarks on a mission in search for the cure to a fatal disease called the "Flare."

Prior to "Maze Runner: The Death Cure," "Maze Runner: The Scorched Trials" stars Dylan O'Brien as Thomas, along with Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aidan Gillen, Katherine McNamara, Patricia Clarkson, and Ki Hong Lee, among others.

Ball's "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Feb. 17, 2017 while "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" is set to hit theaters on Sept. 18.
