A sports website confirmed Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s reading problem which is one of the weapons UFC Women's Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is using in the word war with the unbeaten American boxer.

SBNation confirmed that "Money May's" reading problem goes back to his elementary school days when he had to take special education classes for reading. The problem apparently persisted into the boxer's adulthood as confirmed by an audio file leak wherein Mayweather was struggling to read a drop for Power 105.1 FM, a New York radio station. According to Newsbuzzdaily, Mayweather "read the script as if punctuation did not exist."

The millionaire tried several times but failed. The leak led to jokes about Mayweather's literacy problem, capped last week by Ronda's reply to her ongoing barb with Money May for him to text her back when he already knows how to read and write.

It is not only Ronda who has used Mayweather's reading problem as a weapon against Mayweather who has been known for being offensive and boastful of his money as well as notorious for beating women. When rapper 50 Cent had a spat with the boxer, 50 Cent posted on Instagram the audio file of Mayweather's reading difficulty. When the audio was leaked on YouTube, it became viral with more than 10 million hits.

He then challenged the boxer to read one page from a Harry Potter book. If Mayweather is successful, the rapper pledged to donate $750,000 to charity. The boxer ignored the challenge from 50 Cent, knowing it would further embarrass him if he replied.

Mayweather, who is set to retire from professional boxing after his fight against Haitian boxer Andre Berto on Sept. 12, instead admitted through a Facebook post that he is suffering from a developmental reading disorder called Dyslexia. His learning disability led to bullying made the young Floyd turn to fighting which also led to multiple suspensions from high school because of fights with the bullies.

SBNation called Ronda's exchange with Mayweather childish and embarrassing for the two champs, but her last remarks "insidious."

Illiteracy is a major issue in Michigan where 18 percent of residents are functionally illiterate, while in Mayweather's home town of Grand Rapids, the figure is even higher at 21 percent. SBNation points to Mayweather's poor background as a kid that led to his dropping from high school as contributors to his reading problems.

The portal concludes that because of his shortcomings, it would sound okay for people to throw Mayweather into the trash heap, but stresses, "his struggles with reading are only funny in as far as how much of a national embarrassment it is."
