People from all over the world celebrated the statement of Chinese President Xi Jinping's speech on Thursday during the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the end of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and World War II.

The resounding opinion in the international community was that the event was a display of China's military might and commitment to safeguarding world peace.

Especially emphasized in Xi's speech were the statements, "China will never seek hegemony or expansion" and "China will cut the number of its troops by 300,000," demonstrating further that China is an important force in maintaining world peace and development.

C. Uday Bhaskar, Indian strategic analyst and former Navy Commodore, said that the Chinese president's speech makes it explicitly clear that China will not forget the brutalities done against them by the Japanese military during the war.

Bhaskar indicated that Xi's speech and the military parade showed that China was a powerful military power dedicated to being a major player in international politics defending peace.

Ramesh Chopra, a strategic analyst and former Lieutenant General for the Indian Army, said that Xi's declaration to reduce China's troops by 300,000 is an important part of the modernization of the Chinese military, as it safeguards peace and stability in the world.

Peter Kagwanja, CEO of Africa Policy Institute in Kenya, opined that the parade rightfully commemorated China's victory against fascism during WWII.

Metin Gurcan, a security analyst from Turkey and scholar in Bilkent University in Ankara, said that the military parade gave a clear message that China did not forget the past.

Deniz Ulke Aribogan, member of the Faculty of Political Sciences of the Instanbul University, said that China's victory was a victory for the world against fascism.

Bo Zhiyue, director of New Zealand Contemporary China Research Center of Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, celebrated China's decision to reduce troops, saying that it not only expressed the determination to defend peace, but offered a concrete plan in the process.

Luis Echeverria, former Mexican president, said that Xi's entire speech properly conveys China's love for world peace and their desire to maintain world stability and prosperity.
