The iPhone 6S on release date is largely expected to look and function pretty much as its immediate predecessor - the iPhone 6. To many, skipping the next iPhone this 2015 seems the prudent thing to do, especially for those who already own the 2014 iOS 8 flagship.

But Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac is convinced that one killer feature alone of the 6S is reason enough to upgrade - Force Touch. Force Touch in the 6S is quite from what's already seen with the Apple Watch screen and MacBook trackpad. At the very least, the new technology will redefine the smartphone touchscreen experience.

With Force Touch part of the 6S deal, the upcoming iOS 9-powered smartphones "will be able to determine the difference between a tap, a standard press and a deep press," Gurman said.

In other words, Force Touch in the iPhone 6S is far more souped up when compared to the Apple Watch and MacBook renderings. For instance, navigational applications like Apple Maps and Google Maps can take advantage of the new dimension of functions that Force Touch will bring, making the apps more intuitive and easier to use.

More importantly, Force Touch could make iOS as a more exciting platform for mobile gaming. With the technology in full implementation, developers will be empowered to "create new type of games," Gurman wrote, adding that iPhone gaming is in for a major overhaul.

The Force Touch in the iPhone 6S flavor is tweaked to near perfection that Apple is likely to label the feature 3D Touch Display, said Gurman, who is known for obtaining advanced and accurate information on Apple products and services.

Still, another credible Apple insider is suggesting that waiting out for the iPhone 7 in 2016 might better satisfy the cravings of those who want to see a really slimmed down version of the iPhone. Ming-chi Kuo of KGI Securities is saying in a new report that the iPhone 6S thickness will be over 7mm, thus slightly thicker than the paper-thin iPhone 6 at 6.9mm.

So if Apple fans are expecting the next iPhone to be further slimmed down, they'll be merely disappointed. It is best to hold out then for the iPhone 7 next year, which according to Kuo is definitely thinner and lighter than its predecessors.

By Kuo's estimation, the iPhone 7 is no more than 6.5mm thick and can be as thin as 6mm, Apple Insider said in a new report. The tech blog site obtained a copy of the KGI analyst's latest research note.

However, Kuo noted that skipping the iPhone 6S release date this year for the iPhone 7 in 2016 may not be that fulfilling to many Apple fans. For sure, it is a huge jump from the 6S but a 4K display will not be included in the package, the analyst predicted.
