The boys of 5 Seconds of Summer want fans to know that they mean more to them than just avid supporters. Members Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, Michael Clifford and Ashton Irwin explained that they are tired of boybands naming their fan bases so they came up with the "new broken scene."
Speaking to Notion magazine, via Sugarscape, 5SOS explained that "new broken scene" will be a recurring theme in the coming music videos of their "Sounds Good Feels Good" album.
"That came about because everyone was naming their fan bases and we found it a little lame, in all honesty," they shared.
The band explained that they wanted the media to see that there is more to 5SOS than meets the eye. They explained that they are here not just to make music but to "enforce positivity and light" to their fans lives.
They said that the "new broken scene" movement aims to explain to people that there is more to Hemmings, Hood, Clifford and Irwin than music. They held that they are aiming for a revolution and hoped fans will be able to see that they were "all in this together."
According to Music News, 5SOS is done asking the media to stop calling them a boy band. They claimed that they no longer paid attention to what their haters say.
"We learned our instruments, we learned how to write songs from scratch, we love performing live and we love fucking rocking out - that's what we do, so at this stage, people can call us whatever they want," they said.
