Android 5.1.1 Lollipop over the air update was rolled out to Sony Xperia Z, ZL Series and ZR. The OS upgrade will bring build numbers 10.7.A.0.222.

Android 5.1.1 upgrade will improve Sony devices which include Xperia Tablet Z LTE, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z Wi-Fi, Xperia ZL and Xperia Z.

Sony Xperia Z, ZL Series users who will receive update notification must select the option "Yes, Download' and then choose "install now" after downloading. The mobile device will restart instantly and its operating system will be upgraded to the latest version.

However, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop over the air upgrade has a build number 10.7.A.0.222 which does not have a patch for Stagefright exploit, NeuroGadget reported.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop over the air is also said to arrive in Sony's mid-range lineup Xperia M2 Aqua, M2 Dual, and M2, Xperia Blog  announced. When the update arrives, the Xperia M2 line will feature improvements in Wi-Fi Quick Settings, Bluetooth, and memory leaking issues.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop gives only improvements and bug fixes and it is not actually considered as a major update for those aforementioned gadgets. Like other updates in software, the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop over the air Update was launched little by little. Which means it depends on a user's carrier and region, whether the device will have the upgrade sooner or later.
