Aside from cloud connectivity, the new Roomba 980 features a new floor-tracking sensor and a low resolution camera for advanced visual mapping capabilities. iRobot said that the "proprietary visual simultaneous localization and mapping technology" allows the Room 980 to create a map of its users home and keep track of the bots location.

The cleaning robot also features a more powerful vacuum motor which can be activated via a feature called Carpet Boost. The Roomba 980 has a battery pack that can last up to two hours and the bot will automatically return to its base if its needs to charge. Once the charging is done, the bot will pick up from where it left in order to finish the job, according to PC Mag.

Despite all these new and interesting feature, industry experts cite that the device's biggest drawback is its price. The Roomba 980 will fetch a price tag of $899 once it hits the market. The device will be released in United States and Canada on Sept. 17.
