"The Martian" actor Sebastian Stan has stressed that Joe Russo and Anthony Russo's Marvel Comics film "Captain America: Civil War" is not an "Avengers" sequel.

Fans are calling the Russos' "Captain America: Civil War" "Avengers 2.5." In his interview with Collider to promote Ridley Scott's upcoming film "The Martian," Stan said that while the Russos' film was set to feature the Avengers, it would be different from "The Avengers" because it was absolutely a unique entity that links to the Russos' "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

With "Captain America: Civil War" featuring the Earth's Mightiest Heroes, along with other icons in Marvel's Cinematic Universe, such as Black Panther and Ant-Man, Stan's character is assumed to pivotal in the film's entirety, as per Screen Rant.

Stan said that he was given more dialogues in "Captain America: Civil War," as compared to "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." For the actor, it was better when he did not have to say lines, since fans would have to read his mind. In addition to the absence of words, the Winter Soldier's looks and behavior will stimulate fans' thoughts on which side he would be joining, as he could do both.

The Russos' upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" follows the superheroes' future after the government's release of the "Accords," which will limit superheroes from using their extraordinary powers.

The Winter Soldier is set to work hand in hand with Captain America, along with Hawkeye, Falcon, Ant-Man, and Agent 13. Their team will clash with Iron Man's team, which reportedly includes Black Widow, The Vision, War Machine, and Black Panther.

The Russos' "Captain America: Civil War" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on May 6, 2016 while Scott's "The Martian" hits theaters on Oct. 2.
