Latest leaked photos of the upcoming OnePlus 2 Mini handset indicate that the smartphone from Chinese phone maker, OnePlus, will sport a dual-LED flash, fingerprint scanner, and USB-Type-C.
The Chinese tech company launched its first smartphone, OnePlus One in April 2014, which gained much popularity in the market. It took some time for the company to unleash the second smartphone, the OnePlus 2, which hit the market in July 2015.
Initially, the co-founder and CEO of OnePlus, Pete Lau, had confirmed that the company will release another phone in 2015.
Speaking to Android Headlines, Lau said, "We have another phone planned for this year, but will provide details soon."
Furthermore, Carl Pei, the co-founder and universal head of OnePlus, indicated that another smartphone was in development and could be released before Christmas.
Rumor mills have been focusing on a possible OnePlus 2 Mini smartphone in the industry for quite some time. Currently, Chinese website Mobile-dad has unveiled images of the upcoming handset.
So far, there is no information of the specs of the anticipated OnePlus 2 Mini, but from the leaked photos, it appears like the smartphone has two speakers at the bottom. A circular fingerprint scanner is visible at the back of the phone along with a dual-LED camera flash.
Seemingly from the leaked stills, the upcoming OnePlus 2 Mini will also sport a USB Type-C connector.
Meanwhile, the current OnePlus 2 boasts a 5.5-inch IPC LCD display with 1920 × 1080 pixel resolution. Since the OnePlus 2 Mini is a smaller version of the current OnePlus 2, there are high chances that the upcoming smartphone will have a smaller screen.
In addition, the OnePlus 2 is powered by a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC with 4GB RAM and has a 3300mAh battery. Therefore, the OnePlus 2 Mini will feature a relatively smaller battery and will be slower.
The current OnePlus 2 smartphone has a starting price tag of $329. A lower price tag is expected for the upcoming OnePlus 2 Mini.
Although the Chinese company has not yet confirmed the release date for the upcoming OnePlus 2 Mini, fans expect that the smartphone comes just in time before the holiday season sets in.
