"Avatar" actress Sigourney Weaver has been added to the growing cast ensemble of Paul Feig's upcoming "Ghostbusters" film reboot.

Along with Bill Murray, Dan Akyroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts, Weaver also starred in Ivan Reitman's "Ghostbusters" film in 1944. While Weaver joins the all-female members of the titular team in Feig's forthcoming film, it is uncertain at this point whether she is set to reprise his role in the original "Ghostbusters" film, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

In the 1944 film, the actress played the role of Dana Barrett, a professional cello player in the New York Philharmonic. Known as the love interest of Dr. Peter Venkman, who was played by Murray, Barrett is also known as the first customer of the titular team. She called for help due to the paranormal disturbances in her apartment. Then later, she was possessed by Zuul.

According to Daily Mail, fans might not see Weaver as Barrett, as the storyline of Feig's upcoming film indicates that the people are unacquainted of the idea that ghosts are real.

Weaver is known for her roles in Ridley Scott's "Alien," James Cameron's "Aliens," David Fincher's "Alien3," and Cameron's "Avatar." She is set to appear in Cameron's "Avatar" sequels, J.A. Bayona's drama fantasy film, and a Neill Blomkamp project.

Reitman's "Ghostbusters" followed parapsychology professors who set up a shop as their unique ghost removal service. Feig's upcoming "Ghostbusters" will most likely follow the same premise while showcasing a blend of old and new cast members. Aside from Weaver, Murray, Akyroid, Hudson, and Potts, Feig's film stars Chris Hemsworth, Kristen wig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon.

Feig's "Ghostbusters" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on July 15, 2016.
