New "Wolverine 3" details will explain how "Old Man Logan" plot could be handled in the film and Tom Hardy possibly taking on the mantle of Wolverine.

"Old Man Logan" storyline will have an old Logan/Wolverine living in a dystopian future where in most of the heroes are dead and the villains have ruled the world. Wolverine is joined by a blind Hawkeye as they travel the road to fight the villains and the Hulk across the country one last time. Hugh Jackman first teased "Wolverine 3's" plot at the San Diego Comic Con several months ago, hinting it could be based on the same storyline created by comic book writers Mark Miller and Steve McNiven.

Miller revealed several details on how "Old Man Logan" could fit into "Wolverine 3's" movie plot seeing as some of its characters such as Hawkeye and Hulk are owned by Marvel Studios. Miller stated that having the same characters like in the comic books are not necessary for the plot to be fitted or adapted in the movie, IGN reported. He explained that "Old Man Logan" was broken down into several steps and it is basically a Wolverine "road movie," with Logan having a friend to join the journey with.

Characters in story could be changed for instance a blind Hawkeye could be replaced by a blind Scott Summers/Cyclops to which his visor has been destroyed forcing him to close his eyes all that time and he will likely fight other power house adversary like Blob instead of the Hulk.

Aside from the plot treatment, Hugh Jackman told Collider that "Wolverine 3" will also explore the unique father and son relationship between Logan and Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) showing different sides for each character that has not been shown in previous X-Men films.

Professor Xavier has been father figure to all mutants in the X-Men, but from the movies he is mostly seen as a mentor and friend to Logan rather than a son, so "Wolverine 3" might be the key point to show their uniques relationship with each other.

Jackman added that if ever someone could replace him as Wolverine in future projects, he will pick Tom Hardy as his successor. Jackman stated that he has two X-Men films left before he could retire the character and with Hardy's success in films like "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "The Dark Knight Rises," he could be a perfect fit to play Logan in future X-Men films.

"Wolverine" will release in cinemas on March 3, 2017.
