Xi made the statement on Sunday during a forum on gender equality and women's rights at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Furthermore, Beijing plans on inviting around 30,000 women from developing nations for training sessions to be conducted in China.

Aside from a $10-million donation to the United Nations, Xi also mentioned that China would make a contribution of $2 billion for a new development fund for poorer countries while addressing the U.N. Sustainable Development Summit.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon expressed his gratitude on behalf of the international organization for China's enthusiasm and support for the meeting.

The forum was attended by 80 world leaders from different countries, which prompted U.N. Women chief Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcukato to state that it is the first time that important government officials are gathering to attend such a high-level meeting that tackles the issue of women empowerment.

Many experts see China's assertiveness in such issues as the country's way in showing the world its potential for global leadership.

For Tao Wenzhao, a researcher of U.S. studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, once China was able to sustain its capability to produce, the country would start providing more public products to the global market.
